Physical therapist assistants (PTAs) work under the supervision of physical therapists to help patients recover from illnesses and injuries. They provide a variety of physical therapy techniques for assisting the patient in regaining movement and managing pain.

A typical day in the life of a physical therapist assistant might include:
• Reviewing the physical therapist's plan of care for each patient
• Performing therapeutic exercises, massage, electrotherapy, and other techniques on the patient
• Reporting back to the physical therapist in regards to the patient's response to treatment.
