Job Description


The primary purpose of the supply chain intern position is to learn and implement basic supply chain functions under the supervision of the supply chain leadership team.  These functions include the day- to- day operations of the purchasing team, store room/logistics team, Inventory coordination, and business functions of the supply chain department.  The position will provide backup staff coverage when needed as well special project support.


  • Duty 1: Ability to complete basic purchasing functions under the direction of the supply chain leadership team
  • Duty 2: Ability to complete basic store room, delivery, receiving, and logistical functions under the directions of the supply chain leadership team
  • Duty 3:  Acts as role model and mentor for other supply chain associates.  Ensures teamwork that promotes results and that are consistent with the organization and department’s goals.
  • Duty 4:  Ability to complete basic inventory functions and new product analysis
  • Duty 5: Monitors costs of supplies, performs price trend analysis as necessary, and challenges blind cost increases from the supplier network to ensure that informed buying decisions are made for each purchase.
  • Duty 6: Completes all purchasing documents accurately and timely to ensure comprehensive open order control.
  • Duty 7: As necessary, research supply availability and alternate supplies for end-users, as requested
  • Duty 8: Provides basic staff coverage when needed
  • Duty 9:  Provides basic project management support, data analysis, and trend analysis.


  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Actively engaged or pursuing  a degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Administration with a focus on supply chain management
  • Documented data analysis and performance improvement skills required
  • Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required


  • Data analysis and a working knowledge of Excel
  • Knowledge of supply contract basics
  • Accounts payable knowledge


This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent walking, lifting, bending, climbing, squatting, kneeling, twisting, sitting and standing. The associate will be required to walk for up to one hour a day, sit continuously for six hours a day and stand for one hour a day. The individual must be able to lift twenty to fifty pounds and reach work above the shoulders. The individual must have good eye-hand coordination and fine finger dexterity for simple grasping tasks. The individual must have excellent verbal communication skills to perform daily tasks. The associate must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. The individual must be able to operate a motor vehicle for business travel and community involvement.

This position is classified at risk for possible occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens (HBV, HIV, etc.)
