Job Description


The Clinical Research Associate (CRA) is responsible for the coordination of all oncology clinical trials patients to include: patient education, determination of eligibility, informed consent, registration, treatment management and follow up documentation. 


Duty 1: Promotes and educates the public, patients, physicians, and clinical staff about Oncology clinical trials to facilitate enrollment of patients onto clinical trials. 

Duty 2: Collaborates with physicians and clinical staff in determining potential research protocols and patient eligibility to facilitate enrollment of patients onto Oncology clinical trials. 

Duty 3: Effectively utilizes available research-related resources to ensure proper enrollment, protocol treatment, and follow-up requirements outlined in the research protocol are met. 

Duty 4: Effectively interfaces with associated research group personnel to ensure communication of important research program related information and communication of enrollment, protocol treatments, adverse events, and follow-up information of patients enrolled on Oncology clinical trials. 

Duty 5: Provides direction and written resources to physicians and their clinical staff specific to the research protocol the patient is enrolled on to ensure correct protocol treatment is administered, side effects are monitored, and dose adjustments are made according to the research protocol specifications. 

Duty 6: Complies with organizational policies, procedures, and practices to ensure quality job performance and hospital compliance. 


  • Registered Nurse with current Ohio Licensure 
  • 2-4 years of experience in oncology or related area 
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures related to oncology 
  • Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required. 
  • Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned unit/department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the area’s policies and procedures under the direction of the Medical Director. 


  • BS or BSN preferred  
  • Clinical oncology experience preferred 


This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent bending, squatting, kneeling, and twisting. The associate must be able to sit for three hours, walk for one hour and stand for two hours per day. The associate must be able to lift 20 pounds. The individual must have excellent eye/hand coordination to operate the machines. This position requires corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. 

This position is classified “at risk” for possible occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens (HBV, HIV, etc.)
