Summer Hire - PR & Marketing Intern

Blanchard Valley Hospital Findlay, OH (Onsite) Per Diem

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

Under the leadership and guidance of the Director of Corporate PR and Marketing, this position will support the Corporate PR and Marketing team in day-to-day activities, with a particular focus on corporate social media channels, editing, and writing assignments. The selected candidate will gain valuable hands-on experience and professional development opportunities within an award-winning healthcare marketing and communications environment.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

Duty 1: Manages social media responsibilities with the Social Media Coordinator and covers the platform during the absence of that team member.  This includes working with internal and external stakeholders, developing content and graphics, and scheduling organic and paid posts for all BVHS corporate social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.

Duty 2: Develops and distributes internal and external communication, including internal and external stakeholders.

Duty 3: Develops graphic design projects, as directed, with oversight from team members.

Duty 4: Monitors and implements social media trends and best practices.

Duty 5: Drafts and sends pitches to media.

Duty 6: Edits and develops content.

Duty 7: Develops and update content on the organization’s public-facing website and intranet.

Duty 8: Takes photos to support communication efforts.

Duty 9: Performs some administrative duties.           

Duty 10: Other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in public relations, marketing, business communications, journalism, visual communications technology (VCT), or a related field required

  • Social media savvy

  • Excellent writing skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, including Word and Excel

  • Proficient in graphic design software, including Adobe InDesign and Photoshop

  • Extremely organized

  • Professional demeanor

  • Self-motivated and able to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Attention to detail

  • Strong professional work ethic

  • Eagerness to learn

  • A valid driver's license is required (if you do not have a valid Ohio driver’s license you must obtain one within 30 days of your residency in the state).  You must also meet BVHS's company fleet policy and insurance company requirements, and any other requirements that may be required to operate a vehicle. Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills are required.

  • Photography and videography experience

  • •         Experience writing news releases and feature stories

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent walking, lifting, bending, climbing, squatting, kneeling, twisting, sitting, and standing. The associate will be required to walk for up to one hour a day, sit continuously for six hours a day, and stand for one hour a day. The individual must lift twenty to fifty pounds and reach work above the shoulders. The individual must have good eye-hand coordination and fine finger dexterity for simple grasping tasks. The individual must have excellent verbal communication skills to perform daily tasks. The associate must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. The individual must be able to operate a motor vehicle for business travel and community involvement.
