RN Clinical Specialist - Value Analysis (FT Salaried)

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

The primary purpose of the RN Clinical Specialist - Value Analysis position is to coordinate, communicate, and ensure quality, cost effective outcomes related to the value analysis process.  The process will include all specialty areas and overlaps with provider led committees and initiatives.  The position will ensure standardization and cost effective use of supplies, capital equipment, and works closely with all members of the supply chain team.  The position will maintain contract compliance within guidelines set forth by the department.  The position will function as a clinical consultant for the department and will be involved in determining clinical equivalencies.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Duty 1: Coordinates, manages, and provides oversight for all Value Analysis Committee (VAC) and Specialty Value Analysis Committee (SVAC) functions in conjunction with the Corporate Director of Supply Chain. Demonstrates the necessary analytical skills required to ensure that medical supplies are effectively evaluated for clinical and cost considerations.  Acts as s subject matter expert for any software related to the VAC/SVAC process.
  • Duty 2:  Attends and actively participates in provider led committees and initiatives that relate to supply chain.  Provides data and recommendations to the groups as needed.  Strives for clinical integration and standardization within the organization.
  • Duty 3:  Reviews and maintains market share compliance information for clinical contracts that have these requirements.  Has a working knowledge of all active clinical contracts.
  • Duty 4:  Leads performance improvement related activities and establishes standard work for the department in conjunction with the Corporate Director of Supply Chain.  Ensures that the actions of the department are consistent and produce positive outcomes that are measurable and quantifiable.
  • Duty 5: Works closely with all supply chain associates to ensure standardization and a cost effective approach to medical supplies.  The position will act as a clinical liaison for the department and ensures effective substitutions for backordered supplies. 
  • Duty 6: Can perform basic supply chain tasks and willingly helps in these areas when needed.
  • Duty 7: Acts as role model and mentor for other supply chain associates.  Ensures teamwork that promotes results and that are consistent with the organization and department’s goals.  Maintains exceptional service excellence skills at all times.
  •  Duty 8: Relays pertinent information in a timely manner to the Corporate Director of Supply Chain to ensure excellent inner-department communication.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors of Science degree in nursing (BSN)
  • Licensed by the state of Ohio as a registered nurse
  • Two years of hospital nursing experience in a surgical or procedural setting
  • Documented data analysis and performance improvement skills including Microsoft Excel
  • Positive, service-oriented, interpersonal and communication skills

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • MBA or extensive healthcare business experience
  • AHVAP or CMRP preferred
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Accounts payable knowledge, helpful

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent walking, lifting, bending, climbing, squatting, kneeling, twisting, sitting and standing. The individual must be able to lift 50 or more pounds occasionally and 35 pounds frequently. The individual must be able to push and/or pull with the aid of a pallet jack (and in some instances the added assistance of another associate) up to 1200 pounds. The individual must be able to reach work above the shoulders. The individual must have good eye-hand coordination and fine finger dexterity. The associate must have excellent verbal communication skills to perform daily tasks. The associate must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. Some exposure to heat, noise, bodily injury and toxic substances.
