Pre-Surgical Screening Clerk (PRN)

Blanchard Valley Hospital Findlay, OH (Onsite) Per Diem

PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION

To provide that patients scheduled for surgery at BVH are pre-registered accurately and appointments made for pre surgery testing as needed. Maintain logbooks, assemble charts, monitor and file outside documents received, and answer phone calls.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Duty 1: Demonstrates flexibility in work schedule to accommodate the screening process needs of patient’s scheduled appointments.

  • Duty 2: Provides comprehensive collection of data from physician’s offices to allow patients to move through the pre-surgical process in a comprehensive manner.

  • Duty 3: Maintains office supplies in a cost effective manner to ensure adequate quantities for departmental use.

  • Duty 4: Maintains 95% accuracy of inputting PHI, proper consents and required signatures.

  • Duty 5: Processes information stored in the computer system for creation of statistics regarding productivity and workflow.

  • Duty 6: Tailors care to meet the age specific and developmentally appropriate patient needs.

  • Duty 7: Demonstrates knowledge in correct use of all forms and documentation utilized in day to day operations of the department.

  • Duty 8: Assures patient rights to confidentiality of care and treatment.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in Typing, Filing, Medical Terminology and computer skills in Cerner, and Microsoft Office programs required.

  • Ability to do multi-task simultaneously required.

  • Positive service-oriented interpersonal and communication skills required.

  • Individual must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on his/her assigned unit/department. The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient status.  Must be able to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to their age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the area’s policies and procedures.      

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Secretary/Clerk past experience.

  • Associate degree in related field.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position requires a full range of body motion with intermittent activities in walking, sitting, lifting, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting and standing. The associate will be required to lift 50 pounds or more. This position requires individuals to lift work above the Shoulder. The associate must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range. Individual must have excellent verbal communication skills to perform daily tasks.
